So You Have a Leak. Now What? Water Line Repairs-- or Total Replacement?
Answer four questions:

* When was your house built (if your water line is of the same era and hasn’t been repaired or replaced
even once yet)?
* Your present water line is made of what kind of material?  (Circle one or more)
Plastic    Copper     Iron
How old is the pipe? When was your water line installed?
* Have you made earlier repairs to the same line?

If your house was built before 1970-and especially before 1960-and your water line is now leaking and has never
been repaired or replaced before, you may as well bite the bullet and tackle the task. If you aren't already
experiencing water line headaches in homes this old, it's just a matter of time before you'll have to do something
seriously expensive anyway. The sooner you address your water line repair or replacement issues, the less it can
cost to address them.

Cost/Benefit Analysis

If you catch water line repair issues early enough, and if the material your water line is made of is still robust and
sound, trenchless 'water line-pulling' technologies can save you the immense added cost of tearing up and then
replacing or restoring expensive landscaping, sidewalks, gardens, and other aesthetic and safety features that lie
atop the pipe in question.

The cost of repairing a water line twice in your lifetime is far greater than the cost of replacing the entire pipe once
so only when your water line is made of newer materials do we recommend repairing rather than replacing it.

Red Alert: If your existing water line is made of lead or galvanized pipe, replacement is the only available
legitimate option. It is illegal to repair lead and galvanized pipe. And trying to repair them on the sly by yourself is
dangerous, too: these materials become seriously brittle with age, turning what you may envision as a quick repair
into a real mess that will be wildly expensive to make right again.

Check with Steve first, second, or third, but check with him before you make any final decision about water line
repairs-he's a straight shooter and will give it to you like it is. Generations of Tacoma families can vouch for his
integrity, ethics, and the affordability of his services. You can depend on Steve Pielak to do the job right at a
fraction of the cost for Water Line Repair.
When it comes to water line repairs, don't settle for less than the best-especially when you can get the best for a mere fraction of the cost that you will pay a high-profile, top-of-mind company to do the same work for you!

First Things First-Do You Have a Leak?

Listen carefully to your water line at the location where the pipe enters your home (usually within two feet of your water meter.) Make sure no water is running anywhere in the house when you do this.

The pipe should be completely silent! Is it? Or do you hear a vibration or rumbling noise? If you do, there's probably a leak between your water meter and the city main in the roadway.
